Welch’s vacuum gauges and controllers solve a common problem: inconsistent vacuum levels that compromise process reliability. Whether you're running a lab application, industrial process, or OEM system, precise vacuum measurement is non-negotiable. Welch offers a focused range of digital and analog gauges, plus controllers that automate vacuum regulation—reducing manual oversight and improving repeatability.

The total range of scientifically useful vacuums extends from approx. 1000 mbar (atmospheric pressure) down to 10-12 mbar – the ultra-high vacuum range. A physical measurement of the whole vacuum/pressure range is not necessary. Particular sensors and gauges must be used for parts of the whole range – rough, high and ultra-high vacuum. These systems are also offered in combination as multi-range vacuum gauges for covering multiple measuring ranges.

What You Get

Welch’s product line includes:

  • Digital Vacuum Gauges: Fast response, high accuracy, and clear readouts. Ideal for lab environments and process monitoring.

  • Analog Gauges: Rugged and simple. Useful for quick visual checks or backup systems.

  • Vacuum Controllers: Automate pump operation based on setpoints. Reduce wear, save energy, and stabilize vacuum levels.

Each product is designed to integrate easily with Welch pumps and systems. Most gauges cover a wide pressure range—from atmosphere down to deep vacuum—and use proven sensor technologies like Pirani, capacitive, and thermocouple.

Why It Matters

Vacuum performance isn’t just about the pump. Without accurate measurement and control, you risk over-pumping, underperformance, or process failure. Welch gauges and controllers give you the data and automation needed to maintain optimal conditions—especially in applications like:

  • Filtration and aspiration

  • Freeze drying

  • Vacuum ovens

  • Distillation

  • Glove boxes

  • OEM systems

Compatibility & Integration

Welch gauges and controllers are compatible with most Welch vacuum pumps, including diaphragm, rotary vane, and hybrid models. Many units feature standard fittings and digital interfaces for easy integration into existing setups.

FAQs

A Pirani gauge and a capacitive gauge are both used to measure vacuum pressure, but they operate on very different principles and are suited to different pressure ranges and applications.Pirani gauges measure thermal conductivity and are best for mid-to-low vacuum ranges. Capacitive gauges measure pressure by detecting the deflection of a diaphragm due to gas pressure. These gauges are gas agnostic, and offer higher accuracy and stability, especially in low-pressure applications.
